Created in 1987, Cameroon National Association for Family Welfare (CAMNAFAW) responds to the needs of women who wanted to plan their families and to enjoy higher standards of living. The organization has rapidly grown into the country’s leading provider of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. CAMNAFAW is a full member of IPPF since 1995.

Today, CAMNAFAW is one of IPPFAR’s four learning centres.

CAMNAFAW delivers a wide range of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services.

It offers family planning services, antenatal and post-natal care, post-abortion care, the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, screening of cancers of the reproductive system and voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) services.

As part of their outreach they provide home-based care, and education programmes aimed at reducing stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and AIDS.

Since 2011, CAMNAFAW is the principal recipient of the Global Fund/AIDS – Round10 for the civil society in Cameroon.

Through the IPPF Initiative founds, CAMANFAW also registered success through their Meeting SRH Diversity Needs (MESDINE) project aimed at improving access to reproductive health services to the LGBTI (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transsexual/Intersex) community

In 1991, it opened the first Youth Centre for Information and Education in sexual and reproductive health in the capital Yaounde, followed by Douala, three years later.

Today CAMNAFAW is running 4 youth Centres, two satellites clinics and 2 statics clinics with 45 full-time staff supported by over 1,500 volunteers.
